Dear Parents and Carers
It has been another busy and successful week at Heathfields, with children continuing to work incredibly hard across the curriculum. Members of the leadership team have enjoyed spending time in classrooms celebrating the excellent work taking place, and we were delighted to award a number of Headteacher Awards, with many recognising the impressive progress children are making in their writing. Donaldson Class thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the park, while McKee Class will look forward to their trip at a later date following Miss Buttery’s recent illness. We are especially proud that over 75% of our children are now reading at home regularly. School leaders have loved joining Reception reading sessions and seeing first-hand the fantastic progress children are making with their phonics and book talk. Year 1 welcomed a special visitor, Mrs Guilder’s mum, who shared memories of her childhood and helped bring learning about living memory to life. Meanwhile, Year 2 had great fun exploring different foods and sorting them into groups as part of their learning. To round off a wonderful week, the whole school enjoyed an inspiring live orchestra performance which enriched the children’s cultural capital. We were particularly proud to see the talented Mrs Kimber performing alongside her fantastic colleagues from Staffordshire Music Services, providing a memorable musical experience for all.
Celebrations

A huge well done to all of our children and families for supporting excellent attendance. Our attendance this week has been strong, and we are delighted that our year-to-date attendance remains above the figure achieved at the same point last year.
Regular attendance plays a vital role in children’s learning, wellbeing and success, and your continued support helps ensure that every child has the best possible opportunity to thrive. Thank you for working with us to make every day count. Keep up the fantastic effort!
The classes with the best attendance this week were: Ahlberg and Murphy with 100%
The classes with attendance above 96% were: Ahlberg, Murphy, Donaldson, Child, McKee, Grey and Ross
The class with the highest number of readers this week was: Grey with 80%.
Harvest Festival Food Bank Collection
Over the coming week, the children will be learning about and celebrating Harvest Festival. Harvest is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the importance of gratitude, community and supporting those who may need a helping hand.
As part of our Harvest celebrations, we are inviting families to support the Tamworth Foodbank by donating items that will help local people and families in need. Throughout the week, a wheelbarrow will be placed at both school gates to collect donations.

Safer Eating Reminder
At Heathfields, the safety and wellbeing of our children is always our highest priority. We work closely with families to follow current safer eating guidance, helping to reduce the risk of choking and ensuring that children can enjoy their food safely.
Some foods can pose a choking hazard for young children if they are not prepared correctly. We therefore kindly ask parents and carers to ensure that items such as grapes, cherry tomatoes, sausages and similar foods are cut into appropriate pieces before being brought into school. By following the same guidance at home and at school, we can work together to develop safe eating habits and help keep all children safe.

As we look ahead to the coming weeks, we are excited to strengthen the partnership between home and school through a number of important events. Our Parent Consultation Evenings will provide an opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and discuss how they have settled into their new class, celebrate their successes and explore their next steps in learning. We will also be sending home your child’s writing and maths books for you to share together. This is a wonderful opportunity to look through the fantastic work they have completed so far this year, celebrate their achievements and record what you are particularly proud of. We greatly value your support and look forward to continuing to work together to help every child flourish.
